About draw.io — Diagram & Flowchart Editor

draw.io (also known as diagrams.net) is a full-featured diagram editor for flowcharts, UML class and sequence diagrams, entity-relationship diagrams, network topology maps, org charts, and BPMN. It ships with hundreds of built-in shape libraries and supports the same .drawio XML format used by the desktop and web apps, so diagrams stay portable.

How to use

  1. Drag shapes from the left-hand palette onto the canvas, or double-click empty canvas to search for a shape by name.
  2. Connect shapes by hovering over an edge until directional arrows appear, then drag to the target shape.
  3. Use the Style and Diagram panels on the right to adjust colors, fonts, page size, and grid settings.
  4. Export or save your diagram from the File menu — options include PNG, SVG, PDF, and the native .drawio XML format.

Frequently asked questions

Is my diagram uploaded anywhere?
No. This is a self-hosted build of the open-source draw.io editor — everything runs and stays in your browser, with no cloud storage or account connections active.
Can I import an existing .drawio file?
Yes — use File > Open From > Device to load a .drawio, .xml, or .vsdx file from your computer.
What diagram types are supported?
Flowcharts, UML, ER diagrams, network diagrams, org charts, BPMN, wireframes, and more — accessible via the shape library sections in the left panel.
