About pdfme — PDF Template Designer
pdfme is a free, open-source (MIT) PDF template designer and generator. Start from a blank page or an uploaded base PDF, then drag text, images, tables, lines, shapes, barcodes, QR codes, dates, and signature fields onto the page and edit each element's properties. When you're done, generate a finished PDF or export the template as reusable JSON. The build here is self-hosted directly from the pdfme/pdfme project's own playground source and runs entirely client-side: nothing you design or generate is ever uploaded to any server by this site.
How to use
- Optionally upload a base PDF ("Change BasePDF"), or start from the blank page shown.
- Pick a field type from the left palette (text, table, image, shape, barcode, QR, date, signature) and place it on the page, then edit its properties in the right panel.
- Load a built-in template from the Templates tab, or "Load Template" from a JSON file, to start from an example.
- Click "Generate PDF" to produce the finished document, or "DL Template" to save your design as reusable JSON.
Frequently asked questions
- Is my data uploaded anywhere?
- No — PDFs are designed and generated entirely in your browser. The base PDF you upload, the template you build, and the generated document all stay on your machine and are never sent to a server by this site.
- Is pdfme free to use?
- Yes — it is free and open source under the MIT license, so it stays free to use, study, and modify.
- What can I put on a PDF?
- Text, images, tables, lines, rectangles and ellipses, barcodes, QR codes, dates and times, select/checkbox/radio inputs, and signature fields.
